Carlos Alcaraz is a 19-year-old tennis player from Spain, who became the new world No 1 on September 12. He won his first Grand Slam title at the US Open in 2022. Alcaraz also became the youngest player to claim the No. 1 spot in the ATP Rankings after his triumphant run at the US Open Championship. He has won six career titles, five of them in 2022, including Masters 1000 titles in Miami and Madrid. Alcaraz turned professional in 2018 at age 15. Alcaraz is coached by Juan Carlos Ferrero, the former world No 1 and 2003 Roland-Garros champion, who has been working with him for two years at his Equelite Academy.

Carlos Alcaraz was born on May 5, 2003 to Carlos Alcaraz Gonzalez and Virginia Garfia Escandon in Palmar, Murcia, Spain. Both his parents are of Spanish descent. His father was among the top 40 tennis players in his country and competed professionally during the early 90s. Gonzalez introduced Alcaraz to tennis when he was four years old and also attended various tennis events together. He met his girlfriend Maria Gonzalez Gimenez at the Murcia Tennis Academy. The couple have shared few details of their relationship.
