The biggest and grandest football tournament in the world, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, is right around the corner, and fans are already hyped about it. This year's world cup will be the 22nd edition of the prestigious tournament and Qatar will be the host of the 2022 FIFA world cup. The middle eastern country was granted the privilege to host the 2022 world cup in 2010 by FIFA and as a result, Qatar will be the first Arab state to host a world cup. The 2022 world cup will be the last world cup to involve 32 team format as from the next edition of the tournament there will be 48 teams scheduled to play.
There will be a total of 32 teams scheduled to take part in the 2022 FIFA world cup in Qatar. These teams represent different confederations across the world and have earned their spot after going through some tough rounds of qualifiers.
From the Asian Football Confederation, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Korean Republic, and Qatar have already booked their slots for the club. There is still another slot left for an AFC team and it could go down between Australia and UAE as both teams will go head to head in the AFC-CONMEBOL Playoffs.
From UEFA there will be a total of 13 teams that features current world cup champions France. 5 teams from the Confederation of African Football and 3 teams from CONCAF has booked their slot for this year's world cup. From the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) four teams have confirmed their place in the grandest football tournament.
On April 1, 2022, FIFA conducted the group draws at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center in Qatar. There will be a total of 8 groups with 4 teams each. From all the groups, group E is touted to be the group of death as it includes former world champions Spain and Germany along with Japan and New Zealand or Costa Rica.
