Founded in 1946, Golden State Warriors is a professional basketball team with the main station based in San Francisco, United States. It plays in the NBA-associated Western Conference Pacific Division and is one of the most successful teams in NBA history. The Warriors have six NBA championships and one BAA (Basketball Association of America) title in the basket. Along with the Chicago Bulls, the Golden State Warriors is currently the 3rd most successful team in the NBA with six titles to name. The current head coach is Steve Kerr while the home ground is located in Oracle Arena, Oakland.

Tim Hardaway


The American former professional basketball player Timothy Duane Hardaway Sr. was born in 1966 and played in the NBA for several franchises. He played college (UTEP Miners) basketball during the early years of his career before moving to the NBA. The Golden State Warriors selected the player as the 14th overall pick in the NBA draft in 1989. After serving the Warriors for 7 years, Tim was further traded by the Miami Heat in 1996, Dallas Mavericks in 2001, and then by the Nuggets and the Pacers as well. Hardaway is a five-time NBA All-Star, ALL-NBA First Team, NBA All-Rookie First Team, WAC Player of the Year etc.

Stephen Curry is one of the greatest basketball players of all time and the best shooter in NBA history. Born in 1988, he is the son of the former NBA player, Dell Curry. He represented the Davidson Wildcats in college-level basketball competitions before being selected by the Warriors as the 7th overall pick in the NBA draft in 2009. Stephen Curry is a 4-time NBA champion, NBA Finals MVP, eight-time NBA All-Star, four-time All-NBA First Team, three-time All-NBA Second Team, and many other accomplishments to name.


Chris Mullin


The former basketball player played the Small Forward position and currently serves St. John’s as a coach. Mullin is a 5-time NBA All-Star, All-NBA First Team, two-time All-NBA Second Team, All-NBA Third Team, etc. He was also named Big East Player of the Year three times during his college career for the St. John’s Redmen. The Golden State Warriors chose him in the first round of the NBA draft in 1985. Chris Mullin also played for the Indiana Pacers (1997-2000) and again a season with his original team (the Warriors) before his retirement.


Mitch Richmond


The former NBA champion Mitchell James Richmond III had a successful basketball career with several NBA clubs. He started playing basketball at Moberly Area Community College as well as Kansas State University. Mitch joined the National Basketball Association in 1988 when he was acquired by the Golden State Warriors in the NBA draft. Later, Richmond played for the Sacramento Kings (1991-98), the Wizards (1998-2001), and the Lakers (2001-2002).


Draymond Green


The professional NBA player for the Golden State Warriors primarily plays in the Power Forward position. He is a 4-time NBA champion, All-NBA Second Team, All-NBA Third Team, NBA Defensive Player of the year, four-time NBA All-Defensive First Team, and has many other honors and accolades. Green played college basketball for Michigan State and was later chosen by the Warriors as the 35th overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft.


Golden State Warriors History


The Golden State Warriors is one of the oldest brands in the National Basketball Association's history. It came into existence in 1946 in Philadelphia (the Philadelphia Warriors) as a charter member of the BAA. Peter A. Tyrell owned the team at that time along with the American Hockey League’s Philadelphia Rockets. Later in 1962, the club moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and participated in the NBA league as San Francisco Warriors. It changed to the Golden State Warriors in 1971.


Record-wise, the Warriors are one of the most successful teams in NBA history with seven NBA championship titles. It registered the victory in the final of its inaugural NBA (1946-47) season. Subsequently, the Warriors tasted success in the NBA Finals in 1956, 1975, 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022. Joseph Steven Lacob, popularly known as Joe Lacob, holds the majority of stakes in the NBA franchise Golden State Warriors. He is a businessman and has been a partner of a Venture capital investment firm Kleiner Perkins since 1987. Joe along with the group of investors consented to buy the Golden State Warriors in 2010. The previous owner of the franchise was Chris Cohan who sold the club for US$450 million.


Joe Lacob was a co-owner of the Boston Celtics before becoming the owner of the Warriors. He sold his stake (Celtics) so he could acquire the Warriors. Cohan sold the franchise to Joe’s group after considering Lacob's ownership experience in Boston and the fact that Joe was a season-ticket holder with a decade-long experience.

The five-time NBA champion Stephen Douglas Kerr is a former popular NBA player and the current coach of the Golden State Warriors. Born in 1965, Kerr had a successful professional basketball career with several franchises, including the Suns, the Cavaliers, the Magic, the Chicago Bulls, the Spurs, and the Blazers. During his playing time, he was NBA Three-Point Contest Champion, 2-time First-Team All-Pac-10, Second-Team All-American – AP, and Third-Team All-American – NABC. Stephen Kerr joined the Golden State Warriors as a head coach in 2014 and led the team to be a champion four times (2015, 2017, 2018, 2022) under his supervision.
